摘要

In a recent article [Technology in Society 1999;21:323-44] we argued that the industrial revolution which has transformed tree-harvesting since the 1960s was driven by employers' efforts to dramatically increase mills' wood supply and the labour productivity of systems. By the end of such a period of industrial development, one would expect the use of only the Most productive systems. While something like that did take place, the example of the Miram- Ichi in New Brunswick, Canada shows significant deviations from the expected pattern.
