A jury decided that Verizon Wireless, Novatel Wireless and other wireless network operatorsndidn't infringe an automatic dialing patent. The ruling came in a complaint seeking $170 millionnin damages filed by patent company DNT, a unit of Acacia Research, in 1990 in U.S. DistrictnCourt for the Eastern District of Virginia. The jury found DNT's patent claim invalid because itnlacked an adequate written description of the claimed invention, it didn't enable someone tonmake and use the claimed invention, and the claimed invention would have been obviousnwhen the patent application was filed.
