The mid-to-late 1990s were a time of rapid technological innovation and one technology that generated a lot of excitement was IP VPNs. This much-hyped replacement for traditional networking services was expected to change the way businesses communicated with their employees, customers and suppliers. Like most things born in the bubble era, the widespread adoption of this networking technology didn't happen quite as quickly as anticipated.
