These rapidly changing media times provoke new responses from the industry and new styles of event for the Society: January's dinner was the first jointly produced with the London Business School. Offering not just one speaker, but a panel of four, all approaching the converging screen technologies in different ways, it drew a full complement of diners to BAFTA, many new to RTS events. Held within days of the megamerger between America Online (AOL) and Time Warner, its topic was timely: Pretenders to the home - broadband attempts to usurp the traditional broadcasters' throne.
