There were a number of surprises at the Hong Kong Fashion Week held this January, not least of which was the extent of the revamping, which had taken place since the previous edition. Usually, this event is held together with the World Boutique Hong Kong; but on this occasion it ran solo, and some of the key catwalk shows on the fashion calendar, most notably the Extravaganza and the Young Designer Contest, were also missing on this occasion. Nonetheless, it was announced -in a sense, accounting for the absence of the World Boutique - that Centre Stage would take place separately on September 7-10 this year. Despite the absence of World Boutique, the Fashion Week received good support from both exhibitors and buyers to continue to claim the distinction as Asia's largest fashion event. And the overall conclusion was that it met the expectations of everyone.
