Two events, which when held together each January are said to be Asia's largest fashion fair, took place in Hong Kong this month (January) with some 1,800 exhibitors from 27 economies as participants. World Boutique was in its 13th year and Fashion Week in its 46th edition; together comprising more than 60 events - fashion shows, seminars and discussion sessions. At World Boutique, there were 600 brands from 19 countries on show. Pavilions of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan took centre stage. A major catwalk event during the fair was the Extravaganza, supported by Audi HK and featuring designers Eri and Philip Chu, Loris Diran, Lars Wallin, and Wang Yutao. Another fashion show, the Young Designer Contest (YDC), gave inspiration to young and talented newcomers to the industry. Hong Kong Fashion Week presented 1,500 exhibitors showing fashion and accessories for the new season. Fashion Shows: Of those cited 60 events at the twin shows the catwalk ones - commencing with a solo parade and a house show on Day 1 of the schedule and finishing with the last house show on Day 4 - created significant buzz and attracted large audiences. Fashion and networking drew the crowds for products from Guangzhou, running parallel with the Brand's Collection Show for Gregorius Vici of Indonesia, IKA of Hong Kong and Samantha Giraud, also of Hong Kong. Formalities came to a close with the House Show of Shanghai Tang.
