Cotton Australia has announced the appointment of three executives - two of them as policy officers and the third to focus on the best practice initiatives in the Australian cotton industry. Among the two policy officers, Nicola Cottee - an award-winning cotton scientist and an expert on cotton heat stress - will be responsible for research direction and stewardship while Felicity Muller as cotton growers' advocate will focus on such sectors as electricity and energy, transport, foreign trade and export as well as mining and coal seam gas issues. Rick Kowitz who assumes the role of myBMP manager is responsible for the leadership and management of best practice initiative in Australian cotton industry. Ms Cottee who was a post-doctoral research fellow at CSIRO's cotton management and physiology unit working to identify heat stress tolerance of cotton cul-tivars to improve the resilience of Australian cotton, will focus on research and steward-ship, resistance management and biosecurity, as part of her role to advocate on behalf of cotton growers.
