US apparel market recovers from 2012 drop

摘要

Apparel shipments clearing US customs in 2012 had reduced both in volume and value. Market however recovered last year, with imports rising 4.7% in quantity and 3.9% in value. Tl he year 2013 was good for companies exporting woven and knit apparel to the United States. US apparel imports increased 3.9% to US$80,975 billion, compared with 1.1% decline in 2012. Quantity imported was 4.7% larger at 26.261 billion garments, compared with 0.8% decrease in 2012. Imports strengthened each quarter with gains in the first quarter registering 2.9% above the first quarter of 2012 and fourth quarter 2013 results ending 5% above the fourth quarter of 2012.
