Smart textiles are no longer a science-fiction fantasy. They are textiles designed to sense and react to environmental conditions, now in use in many areas of daily life. This study explores some of the basic applications of smart textiles such as thermo regulating material, shape memory material, chromic material, luminescent material, conductive material, photovoltaic material, membranes and smart textiles by the military.
