Proposte premiered in 1993 to promote Italian hometextiles had a clearly defined policy: exhibitors joining the show must be manufacturers that offer original designs and they must meet three criteria - observe professional correctness, be committed to research and development in creativity and technologies, and their products must be of high quality. Later on, it was also open to companies from other parts of Europe that met these criteria. When Proposte thus became an international fair, its reputation soared and it became known as the fair to preview new products and a trendsetter in furnishing fabrics.
