James Heal, the UK-based 142-year old company that designs and manufactures testing instruments and test materials for the global textile and garment industry has been acquired by the US investment firm Battery Ventures. Following the acquisition, Battery's executive-in-residence Don Templeman has joined James Heal as chairman and director and Amanda McLaren, the manufacturing director of James Heal has taken over the responsibilities of managing director from David Repper, who held that position since 1982. The rest of the board of directors will continue to lead the company under the new ownership while David Repper becomes a consultant on a part-time basis to assist with product development, customer relations and operations, and also to help to ensure a smooth transition period.
