Plasma treatment to enhance hydrophobicity of textiles

摘要

Various types of recent research on surface modification by both low-pressure and atmospheric pressure have been reviewed. Plasma treatment has been proven in the laboratory to treat textiles with a repellent finish comparable to conventional wet processing. Plasma technique is available commercially in a reliable process that promises to alleviate excessive energy costs associated with wet processing. Both low pressure and atmospheric pressure plasma treatments require room temperature. And it is a dry process with less energy consumption, causing very little substrate damage and no water pollution. It is eco-friendly.
