The Nahar Group, a leading textile giant based in Ludhiana in the northern Indian state of Punjab, is embarking on a development plan worth some US$250 million to expand spinning capacity as well as double annual denim production from 20 million meters to 40 million meters within the next three years. The first phase of this expansion will include installing some 200,000 spindles for spinning yarn using cotton procured mainly from Punjab and the neighbouring states of Haryana and Rajasthan.
