ICA Bremen, a Germany-based international centre for cotton testing, research and quality training, will soon begin to offer cotton DNA testing service in partnership with the German company Impetus Bioscience that specialises in DNA analysis. Under a partnership agreement that ICA Bremen and Impetus Bioscience have signed, ICA Bremen can utilise the expertise of Impetus Bioscience to test finished textile garments and determine whether or not they contain genetically modified cotton, as well as identify different cotton species such as Pima / Gossypium Barbadense. "This is an exciting partnership for ICA Bremen and expands our range of services to the wider global cotton community," Says ICA Bremen's managing director Kai Hughes. The laboratory manager of Impetus Bioscience, Hermann Rueggeberg, meanwhile, adds that ICA Bremen is the perfect partner to propagate Impetus Bioscience's advanced analytical methods worldwide. This partnership he expects can lead to other interesting projects in the future.
