摘要

Agricultural products, wastes, and derivatives have received much attention due to their renewability. There is abundance of unconventional fibrous plants in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand which local people have not tapped due to lack of knowledge. The majority of natural fibres are ligno-cellulosic in nature; therefore they are considered as low value industrial fibres. However, improvements in fibre and yarn production technologies over the years as well as constant research and rising concern over environmental safety have sparked renewed interest in ligno-cellulosic fibres. Among these ligno-cellulosic fibres, one of the least investigated is the seed fibre obtained from milkweed plant.
