The Woolmark Company will hold an international competition for the Woolmark Prize in London next February. This award, introduced six decades ago by the then International Wool Secretariat, was re-launched this year by the Woolmark Company as a breakthrough fashion event to promote the innovative use of wool and to inspire the general public to appreciate the natural beauty of Merino wool. Many fashion industry nominating bodies have already selected their finalists for the final round in London. Among them: Sophie Theallet from the United States, Christian Wijnants from Belgium, Ban Xiao Xiu from China, Dion Lee from Australia and Pankaj and Nidhi from India. Well-established fashion retailers like Bergdorf Goodman in the USA, Harvey Nichols in the UK, 10 Corso Como in Italy, Joyce in China, Eickoff in Germany and David Jones in Australia will market the clothing designed by the international winner.
