This study investigating the characteristics of Sida Rhombifolia fibre has found that the tensile properties of the raw and bleached fibres are similar to those of jute, ramie and kenaf and it needs to be softened and enzymatic scoured to determine its spinnability as well as the application of the spun yarn in textile production or in the craft industry. Sida Rhombifolia according to Kleinschmidt HE, Holland and Simpson P (1996), belongs to Kingdom plantae, family Malvaceae, genus Sida and species Rhombifolia. Common names include Huang hua mu (China), Mahabala (India), Sengpue (Cameroon) and country mallow (English). Even though it is sometimes called Cuban jute or hemp, it is not related to jute. The plant is considered therapeutic;
