The American apparel and home furnishing company, J. C. Penney, has appointed Ron Johnson who is regarded as an innovative retail executive as chief executive officer starting this November. He succeeds Myron E. (Mike) Ullman, III who will become executive chairman. Mr Johnson will also join the company's board of directors, effective this month. Mr Johnson has been senior vice president of retail at Apple Inc. for the past 11 years. Before that he was with Target Corporation for 15 years as a key merchandising executive with responsibility for men's apparel, women's apparel and accessories, children's apparel and home furnishing.
