The reaction of the textile industry leaders to the country's 2009-10 budget which the nation's new finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee, unveiled in Parliament in early July was no surprise. Industry leaders beginning from the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry R.K. Dalimarnto Spinners Association president V.K. Ladia, Apaparel Export Promotion Council chairman Rakesh Vaid, president of Tirupur Exporters Association A. Sakthivel, chairman of the Indo-Rama Synthetics O.P. Lohia, chairman of Loyal Textiles M. Ramaswami, and Alok Industries' CFO Sunil Khandelwal, to mention just a few, had something to fret about.
