Japan's technology-driven US$4.1 billion industrial corporation, Teijin, has a simple long-term vision: Global excellence. Recently, it formulated a new management policy to smooth its journey towards realising that vision. Teijin's activities are rooted firmly in five major fields-synthetic fibres, films and plastics, Pharmaceuticals and home health care, trading and rental, and IT and new products. The group comprises 169 companies which togetherprovide employment to nearly 19,500 people around the world. Almost half of these companies (84) and more than 45% of the workforce are outside Japan.
