Cotton supply and demand in the United States experienced increases, says Cotton Inc quoting from the April report of the US Department of Agriculture. Supply increased marginally from 28.5 million 480-lb bales (6.21 million metric tons) to 28.9 million bales (6.29 million tons) while demand also expanded marginally from 19.1 million bales (4.16 million tons) to 19.2 million bales (4.18 million tons). Exports at the same time remained flat at 14.5 million bales (3.16 million tons) which were in line with the pace of shipments seen in previous years. US export of cotton for the entire year is expected to 1.5 million bales (326,590 tons) higher than last year's figure.
