Multiaxial warp-knit preform is a relatively new textile material that is being considered as an alternative any to traditional preform such as woven, knitted or braided fabric. It has found application in many areas including the automotive industry and shipbuilding Theoretically, a composite material is composed of at least two distinctly different elements-both working together to produce material properties that are far superior to the properties of the individual partners. In practice, most composites consist of two separate components: the bulk material called the 'matrix' and the reinforcement added primarily to increase the strength and stiffness of the composite (Netcomposites, 2007; Rusmee, 2005). Man-made composites can generally be divided into three groups: Polymer Matrix Composites (PMC's) which is also known as Fibre Reinforced Polymers or Fibre Reinforced Plastics (FRP), Metal Matrix Composites (MMC's), and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC's). The materials used include polymer-based resin as the matrix, and a variety of fibres, glass, carbon and aramid as the reinforcement. In the various formation of reinforcement, multiaxial warp-knit fabric is a relatively new textile material form that is being considered as an alternative to biaxial woven and unidirectional Broad Goods because of their specific properties and competitive advantages (Ustunel, 2006).
