摘要

Laser makes it easy to cut layers upon layers of fabric or leather accurately as laser lines can show the cutting edge for all layers. This helps reduce cutting defects and production waste. The investment in laser is thus quickly amortised. In the 18th century, it was considered a luxury to own two suits of clothes. Garments in those days were hand-made. So, manufacturing was very labour-intensive, time consuming and therefore very expensive, both in producing and purchasing. With the invention of the "Spinning Jenny" and power looms it became possible that workers could be used more effectively.
