The minister of finance, Dr Suchart Thada-Thamrongvech, has suggested that the Bank of Thailand should attempt to push the Thai Baht lower in order to support the export sector. He was joined by Santi Vilassakdanont, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTC) who wants a rate of between 33 and 35 baht to the dollar. In fact the baht is 2% weaker (early November) than it was in January, and it is showing a tendency to stick at 35.
