Islamic headgear and hijabs (women's head-scarves) created in Thailand are very popular in the Muslim world, the biggest buyer being Saudi Arabia and, in particular, Mecca. It seems that, during the Hajj, Islamic-garment retailers in the holy city can make immense profits from the multitude of pilgrims. More than 80% of the Islamic head coverings sold in Saudi Arabia are made by Thai Muslims, though most are labelled "Made in Malaysia" since the orders are routed through Malaysian traders.
