Mass production no longer follows the well-known statement of Henry Ford: "You may have any colour of car as long as it is black" While we depend on mass production for our welfare and lifestyle, competition on the markets goes the way of individualised products. The battle of competition goes on now in the range of product variations, options and accessories, along with small lots and short terms of delivery. A leading manufacturer of bakery goods brings a new kind of bread on the market each month, mass produced watches offer new styles of case and dial by the week, automobiles feature innumerable combinations of engine, transmission and comfort- related accessories.
