In 2003 DuPont announced their plan to spin off Invista, the new name for DuPont Textiles & Interiors. They did not name the prospective buyer until six months later, then made known that they were negotiating with subsidiaries of Koch Corporation of Wichita Kansas. Then on November 17, 2003 Koch Industries announced that its subsidiaries had reached a definite agreement with DuPont for purchase of Invista for US$4.4 billion. The acquisition was indeed a long process, as it included all of Invista's businesses, including Apparel, Interiors and Industrial & Intermediates.
