The dominant features of the first half I of 2005 for the Rieter Group were, they say, a low inclination to invest on the part of spinning mills and continued weakness in the automotive industry's main markets. Orders received declined by 7% to SFr 1,544.2 million, and sales by 5%, after a strong first half in 2004, to SFr 1,539.3 million. Sales of Textile Systems, 13% down at SFr 506.2 million, suffered from uncertainties due to the cessation of the quota arrangements. Operating result before interest and taxes (EBIT) fell by 23% to SFr 80.2 million, and net profit by 19% to SFr 54.9 million.
