A newly developed fibre attempts to combine the good properties of cotton and polyester. Cotton, one of the natural fibres, has commonly been used for sportswear since early days, but when cotton absorbs water during physical exercise it swells by about 20% owing to the absorbed moisture, which results in reduction of the fabric's air permeability. Hence the touch and comfort of woven or knitted cotton fabric change very considerably, and it becomes sticky and unpleasant to the skin. Moreover, since its drying rate is very low, a chill feeling remains after exercise and lasts for a long time. Cotton is not always comfortable. It is quite important to control the sweat produced by physical exercise. Therefore, natural fibre is no longer the only thing making the latest mid- and high-class fashions.
