The production of carpets, from the provision of the granulate through to the actual weaving or tufting of the carpet itself, comprises numerous processes, each carried out on machines built by the most varied companies. Three main steps can be distinguished in the production of the carpet yarn alone: the spinning of the synthetic carpet fibres, the cabling or twisting and the heat setting of the yarn. In the past, any entrepreneur planning to set up a carpet yarn production facility would have had to contact a whole number of companies just to procure the equipment for these three processes, before putting together "his" yarn. Often some sort of compromise had to be made, as a result of the various providers' being unable to offer an overall solution. For the entrepreneur, it is becoming ever more important to have somebody capable of advising him along the entire added-value chain and offering total solutions.
