Sulzer Corporation is to take over the weaving machinery business of Nuovo Pignone, Schio, Italy, which is owned by the US corporation General Electric. This will significantly strengthen Sulzer's position in rapier weaving machines, the largest segment of the weaving machinery market. The rapier business will be concentrated in Italy and the new Sulzer weaving machinery group will be renamed Sulzer Textil.
