The project creates a typology cultivated from the art and mind of artist Sean Scully where lines in-between animate the space'. It is an encapsulation of his soul translated into architecture. Through in-depth research, the project assists the aspirations of Scully in both life and death, creating a place in which to work, live and connect to the community. It takes back contaminated privatised land and hands it to people, strengthening current social practices. Sitting in the Hatton Garden Conservation Area, the scheme inhabits a gap site at 77 Clerkenwell Road and provides a bookshop, gallery, route through the city and a bus stop for its surrounding community. For Scully, it provides two studios, an archive, garden and three-bedroom home for his family, complete with rooftop temple.
