A strong response has been seen in the offices of The Assessor, and, as such, we will revisit the subject in more depth in the next issue. Alan considered the confusion that the application of the current ABI Code of Practice causes amongst the vehicle damage assessing process. Alan questioned whether, given that many insurers apply their own interpretation of the code, the current code is still 'fit for purpose'. Responses received showed that there is apprehension within the industry about the categorisation subject, with the suggestion that unclear and subjective interpretation of the guidelines could have serious consequences.
