Crown's beverage can capacity growth continues with a new plant in Virginia, USA, and a sixth in Brazil. The canmaker said the US$145 million Virginia facility will make cans for fast-growing beverage markets, including the seltzer, energy and sparkling water sectors, as well as for more traditional products such as beer and soft drinks. Crown didn't reveal how the 31,000sqm plant, due to be built at Commonwealth Crossing Business Centre, south of Martinsville, in Henry County, will be configured, but previous projects have started with one D&I canmaking line in a building with room for expansion. Start up is expected in the second quarter of 2022.
