Malaysia-based tinplate producer Perstima is having a new electrolytic tinning line installed at its Batangas mill in the Philippines. The line will feature insoluble anodes that are said to provide a large operational saving in tin and electrical consumption, while guaranteeing top-quality tinplate. The combined electrolytic tinplating and tin-free steel (TFS) line supplied by Tenova will operate at 550 metres per minute for an annual production of 200,000 tonnes.
