Crown Holdings has started operations at a food can plant in Turkey, and has signed an agreement with the buyer of the can-making plants that the European Commission requires it divest following the acquisition of Spain's Mivisa Envases. Located at Bursa, 240km south of Istanbul, the plant in Turkey makes vegetable oil cans and began production earlier this year. Chief financial officer Tom Kelly explained to analysts last month: "It is a factory that we bought that was essentially marked from a company that was in bankruptcy and we've retooled the factory and started it up."
