Brazil's largest tuna and sardine canner, Gomes da Costa, wants to start exporting its metal packaging to customers elsewhere in South America. rnThe firm, based in Sao Paulo and part of Spain's Calvo group, started making its own cans and ends in 2006 at Itajai, Santa Catarina, which is also said to be the largest catching and receipt facility in the region, producing more than a million cans a day. rnUntil recently, Gomes da Costa was making steel Quarter Club and 307 cans and ends for sardines and tuna for its own use.
