Siemens has previewed a new motion control family, which integrates intelligent motion control and simple control functionality in one system. The company claims that by using the new system, called Simotion, machine manufacturers and users will considerably reduce their costs. During the investment phase, savings can amount to 10% of the machine price and can reach 20% when fully operational. The target market for Simotion is believed to be in excess of 5 billion euros and is drowing at about 5% per annum.
