I am writing in response to Julian Higgins' article in Lighting Journal (Dec 2011, p. 35). I am in total agreement with Julian Higgins that, given a restricted budget, it is better to light a dangerous dark alley than the local flora. Mind you, there are many ways to light a dark alley, some attractive and some not.
