Lighting for the retail sector is not something we cover very often in these pages - so in this issue we are pleased to break the habit with two features on the subject. On page 28 we offer an overview of current trends and concerns in the sector, via phone interviews with key figures in manufacturing, lighting design and retail consultancy. We follow this up on page 30, with a major piece of undercover reportage on the lighting of shops and stores in and around London's Bond Street, accompanied by extensive photographic 'evidence'. The balance-sheet is surprisingly downbeat, not to say depressing - this is definitely not a sector pushing the bounds of lighting innovation.
