Italy is a country with virtually no coal reserves - and 20+ years ago, its citizens voted against adopting nuclear power. There is some wind-power, but the country is still highly reliant on importing most of its energy generation capability from abroad - and resulting electricity costs are considerably higher than the UK. So finding ways of cutting energy use is a high priority for electricity suppliers. ENEL Sole is the largest main power provider in Italy, with some 22% of the market.
