Abacus Lighting has just launched a new series of high performance bollards using LED Quartz optics - a patented clear louvre system with very high light output. The new bollards are designed to deliver crisp white light with low glare - and Abacus claims the new bollards will have an LOR of about 90%, compared with 28% for conventional louvred bollards. There are a number of beam distribution patterns, including symmetric, asymmetric and an axial beam to provide forward and sideways throw for path lighting. The IP65 bollard is tough and robust - and will offer 50,000 hours if use, to maintenance and replacement costs. The LED technology also gives big energy savings, using 60% less wattage than conventional bollards.
