I am an 89-year-old retired and widowed aviator, still a daily observer of civil aviation news. I did 25 missions in Bomber Command. There was no such thing as 'the pilot on the flight deck and the rest of the aircrew'. We worked as a team to accomplish each mission, and hopefully to return home. When I viewed the BALPA video about becoming a pilot, I was disturbed and shocked and I am sure if you were to publicise this, the flying public would be very alarmed. Quite obviously, airline managements and shareholders have far greater lobbying power, even in EASA. All airlines are on cost-cutting programmes, targeting the operational staff rather than the ground management.
