Now that The Log is limited to four Caption Competitions per annum instead of the present six (Feb/March issue), a vast surplus of £20 prize money has been released. Maybe the time has come to introduce prizes for the two runners-up? The present first and only prize has remained at the level of £10 for decades and again there may be a case for increasing this to attract a higher entry for what is universally regarded as the most important section of The Log.
