Balpa has helped easyJet pilots to find a voice at Gatwick, following a fourfold increase in reps and a comprehensive newtraining plan for the base. With over 45 aircraft, 100-plus routes and nearly 500 pilots, Gatwick is by far easyJet's largest base. It hasn't always been this way: back in 2005 Gatwick only had eight Boeing 737 aircraft with the majority of aircraft still at the airline's headquarters in Luton. As the Gatwick operation grew rapidly, BALPA's presence struggled to keep up in this busy environment.
