Jeppesen, known for navigation services but also a developer of crew scheduling software, is actively working to advance science in the area of airline crew fatigue. Last November a first trial with so-called 'crowd sourcing'was made collecting data on duties, sleep and fatigue scores directly from airline crew using an iPhone app called CrewAlert. The collection resulted in over 7,000 fatigue assessments for almost 1,200 duties from 109 pilots around the world.
