Currently, the starting conditions for cadet pilots joining some airlines are fairly bad. For example, many of my friends don't even have a contract, any security or assurance of a minimum salary. They are merely used as contract pilots on an hourly rate for major airlines, even some that have been recognised by BALPA. This is unfair for the pilots and undermines current terms and conditions. What is BALPA doing about this?
