The following theorem on fixed point of operators is known {p.85, [2]; p. 70, [3]}. THEOREM A. Let X be a complete metric space and T:X → X be a continuous mapping. If for some positive integer m, T~m is a contraction mapping on X then T has a unique fixed point in X. Here T~m is the m~(th) iterate of the operator T.
