Global power management company Eaton has secured a contract with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to supply power systems onboard two of its cruise ships currently under construction for Star Cruises. Eaton's uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) have power ratings of between 20 and 160kVA and will be used to protect onboard systems on the cruise ships such as bridge equipment, ship automation systems, propulsion and communications equipment. Oscar Rivella, segment manager marine & offshore industries, Eaton said: "Meyer Werft is one of the most successful and creative shipbuilders when it comes to cruise vessels, leading the way with innovative and environmentally friendly ships.
