Former leading German tanker builder Lindenau in Kiel reports handling a range of ships as it continues to consolidate in the wake of its take-over this year, writes Tom Todd. Among the latest callers for "diverse repair work" have been two very different ships, both built by Lindenau - the 32.7m local passenger ferry Heikendorf and, at the other end of the scale, the 188m double-hulled tanker Seatrout. A third new caller has been the North Sea passenger ferry Baltica. The latest ships point up the wide range of tonnage now being drawn to the yard. In January Lindenau became part of the ADM-owned Privinvest Germany Group which also includes Nobiskrug in Rendsburg and ADM-Kiel, whose facilities used to be part of HDW.
